Smokey-eye boulder lichen, Porpidia albocaerulescens, is described by Brodo et. al in Lichens of North America (2001, Yale University Press) as occurring “…on siliceous rocks and boulders in shaded woods. COMMENTS: In the east, this is one of the most commonly seen saxicolous, crustose lichens in shaded habitats. Its gray pruinose apothecial disks set off by a black margin make it very distinctive.”
