Parmelinopsis minarum

DIAGNOSTIC FEATURES: Medium size; whitish color; cylindrical isidia; black undersurface; medulla C+ rose; compare with Heterodermia granulifera which has a pale undersurface, Parmelia squarosa, which is patterned and maculate, and P. horrescens which has lobulate-ciliate isidia.
ECOLOGY: Common in the southeastern US; found mainly in southeastern Ohio on the bases of oak trees in dry woods or more rarely on rocks.
