Menegazzia terebrata
DIAGNOSTIC FEATURES: Inflated thallus; holes in upper surface; soredia bursting from lobe tips; medulla K+ persistent yellow, stictic acid; compare with Hypogymnia physodes, which has no holes in upper surface.
ECOLOGY: US distribution is northeastern and Appalachian where it is listed as relatively rare on roadside trees and in swamps and bogs; one Ohio record from Clark County (Biddlecome, 1877); probably extirpated from the state.
