DIAGNOSTIC FEATURES: Yellow-green thallus; elongated marginal soralia, often crescent-shaped; pseudocyphellae minute or absent; medulla C+ red; compare with F. flaventior which is pseudocyphellate, and with Allocetraria oakesiana which has marginal pycnidia, medulla C-.
ECOLOGY: Found in boreal and Rocky Mountains states; widely distributed in Ohio but not abundant at any location; on bark only.
