Candelaria concolor
DIAGNOSTIC FEATURES: Greenish-yellow color; very minute lobes (or sometimes almost entirely sorediate -var. effusus); tips and margins sorediate, often disintegrating; cortex K-; compare with Xanthomendoza spp.; golden yellow to orange, cortex K+ purple and Candelariella vitellina, a crustose species with a scattered warty crust, apothecia usually present though sometimes hard to find.
ECOLOGY: Common throughout the US; widespread in every county, on bark exclusively.
